Hosted, Monday February 20, 2006 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, The New Frontier Democratic Club (NFD) installed its 2006 Executive Board at the 46th Annual Installation, Awards, and Black History Month Reception.
The Installation and Black History Month reception is an annual event where several members of the community are honored and Executive Officers of the Club are sworn in. The year’s theme was, "New Directions: Education, Empowerment, and Service," and celebrated the Club’s record of achievement in voter registration, education, and political participation.
Attending guests included an array of elected officials and community leaders from across Southern California. In keeping with the Club’s long held tradition of honoring individuals actively involved in the political process and service to the community, State Senator Kevin Murray received the Political Achievement Award; NAACP Board Member Willis Edwards, the Trailblazer Award; Sandra Evers-Manley of Northrop Grumman, the Community Service Award; and Community Activist Alma Reaves Woods received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
