Walker, Jr. managed the successful campaign of Dr. Mildred “Bonnie” Hines who made history when she became the first female Bishop elected to serve in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and the first Bishop elected from the West Coast. . .What an exciting time to be alive with Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for President of the USA! On September 4, the Obama Campaign opened its West Los Angeles Office at 3619 Motor Avenue, 2nd Floor, to long lines of supporters including John Frierson. Jordan, Jr. Legislative Advocacy Award from the Greater Sacramento Urban League. The presentation took place during the League’s annual State of Black America 2008 Legislative Reception. . .Speaker Karen Bass has reappointed John Frierson to the California Athletic Commission for a term ending June 2011. He previously served 5 years on the Commission before his term ended in 2006. . .Happy Belated Birthday greetings to Rosa Russell who had a rousing celebration at Club Dynasty last month with lots of dancing, dominoes and her favorite game “bid whist”. . .Embracing the Promise, Realizing the Vision is the theme of the 38th Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which is scheduled for September 24 -27, at the Walter E.
